Joshua Tree...

Once upon a time on a mysterious day known as "Black Friday," four female friends did something shocking...they ventured away from the stores and into the wild!

These ladies needed a break from reality and an adventure to call their own, so they embarked upon a three hour drive through rain, peculiar rock ranges, a quick stop for ice cream, and a wide variety of scenery.

On the trip, they brought along snacks, blankets, books, candles, face paint, wine, and 3 cameras to document.

Now, let us keep the rest of the story silent and reveal only what the photographs tell...

The end.

Photos were taken on a Nikon DSLR and a Fujifilm Instax and not edited, because well, sometimes nature is the best editor.

Film Fun...

March Adventure Day 7

Today I made it into the darkroom to print some of my film photos from the museum and our Europe trip. It takes way longer than you would think...I was there for about 3.5 hours and only finished three prints. (Although I did help Alex load/process her film before I got started) The other three are ones I did a few weeks ago but just now scanned in!

Stay posted for more on creating your own darkroom...That is an adventure I am hoping to embark upon soon!

Here are my film photographs...

Les Deux Magots in Paris- Where Hemingway wrote novels...

Caitlin and Natalie in the bell tower in Bruges, Belgium (& the next two)...

Hand painting the whale at the museum...

I'll leave you with this...

Instant...

Instant Photos!!!

Such a wonderful invention! I got the Fujifilm Instax 210 camera for Christmas this year and I was, needless to say, pretty excited. The color is really great in the photos. I only wish that they made black and white film! Oh well.

Here are some of my first shots...

Family Photos...

My grandmother gave me a huge bag of old family photos when we went to visit her for her birthday.

I was overjoyed because 1. I love old photos 2. I love anything family heirloom related and 3. I am in the process of redoing my room and I can definitely use these beauties.

They are just super cool so I'm going to share some. Love you Grandpa Ronald Gottesman...

Abelardo Morell...

Abelardo Morell is one of my favorite photographers. He is one of the most versatile photographers I have ever seen: working with books, light, money, people, art, buildings, rooms, and more. He photographs the process of camera obscura by creating a pinhole camera out of an entire room and capturing the effect on a large format film camera. It produces an eerie dream-like effect of buildings spread across bedsheets and cars racing down walls.

Beyond simply capturing his images with the click of a button, Morell creates, combines, and uses perspective to design his images. He is not simply a photographer, but an artist.

Here are some examples of his photographs from his website...
